Reading Recent Books

In my teens and twenties I specialized in reading 19th century European literature. It was fascinating to me, and I kind of got sucked into a time warp about it. I majored in Slavic Languages and Literatures, specifically Russian, and went along with that into my grad program, where I also studied French and German, getting an MA in German and an MA in Comparative Literature (with a focus in French and Russian). All 19th century.

I have just gotten into reading new releases, like books from 2020-2023, and it is so rejuvenating. People are doing amazing research and are applying amazing lenses to the human condition right now. Especially internationally. The reflections about the United States that I read in works by authors who are not American, and prescient. It is so invigorating, and has motivated me to consider even more seriously working on studying Spanish language perspectives, specifically those from Latin America, on Christianity and the world in a Doctorate of Theology Program that incorporates Latin American theology.

This website will, in case that doctorate doesn’t work out, still serve as fieldwork in the field of cross-cultural missions in the world. In case you’re not used to it yet, the website seahurstlearns.com is no longer attached to this blog. This is my biblespanish.com website now. Feel free to follow the website seahurstlearns.com by going to the website, clicking on “writings” and following me there.
